Pride Hike & Climb 2025 Austria

We will hike, rock-climb and climb some via ferratas in the Kaiser Mountains (Kaisergebirge) with a base in Grutten Hut (Gruttenhütte), and celebrate pride and diversity of our communities.
Program
We will meet on the Friday noon (August 1) at Ellmau bus station / central parking lot. If you are coming by car, please let us know if you can take other participants with you. And if you are still looking for a way to get there, write to us: [email protected].
We will then split into smaller teams: there are several options how to get to the hut from the easy hiking (4 km, 535 hm) to difficult hiking trails and even via ferratas. In the early evening we will all meet at the Grutten Hut.
Now it’s time to get to know each other, talk, enjoy views or simply relax with a cold drink. In the evening we would like to tell you a bit about our Pink Summits expedition and one of our speakers will give a presentation in English.
The next day we’ll plan several options that you can join: from longer hiking trips to via ferratas and rock climbing. Please, take the necessary equipment with you! In the evening we will have another speaker who will give a talk about the alpine safety (in German though).
On the third day we will have time to do more hiking/climbing/via ferratas. We plan to descend in the late afternoon.
Price
Subsidized price of 55 € for those who want to overnight and to get the half-board (breakfast and dinner included) at the hut. The rest of costs are covered by Pink Summits and Osprey.
If there are no subsidized tickets left, you can try to book directly through the hut: it will be 154 EUR for 2-day acommodation and half-board for not DAV members or130 EUR for DAV members.
We have the budget to subsidize a part of the cost for the half-board in the hut for only up to 20 people. Tickets with hut reservations are therefore limited to 20 people.
There are also free tickets if you want to join without the overnight in the hut.

No tickets left? Join our waiting list and we will inform you in case if we increase the event capacity or someone cancels their ticket.
Cancellation and refunds
You can get a refund of the ticket only if you cancel up to July 15th. After that date the refund is impossible.
What to bring?
- Appropriate hiking, climbing or via ferrata gear, including protection against sun and rain
- Pride symbols and rainbows
- Some snacks and drinks for the hikes and climbs
- Some cash: you have to pay for any additional drinks in cash on site. Breakfasts and dinners for those who stay at the hut are included.
- Hut sleeping bag/linens. If necessary, those can be purchased at the hut.
- Important! If you are a member of any alpine club (DAV, SAC, ÖAV, FFCAM, etc.), please, bring your membership card with you.
Photosessions
There will be a photographer/videographer. If you do not want to be filmed or photographed, you will get a badge or sticker from us that you can put on your T-shirt to avoid being phorographed.
Bad Weather
We will carry out the hike even in bad weather conditions. The routes will be adapted accordingly. Therefore, please inform yourself about the weather and bring appropriate clothing. Please also note that you are travelling at your own risk. Assess your experience on the mountain correctly or ask us if you have any doubts as to whether the tour might be too difficult for you.
Meeting point and directions
We’ll meet on Friday, August 1st 2025 at noon at Ellmau bus station / central parking lot.
For those who join on Saturday or Sunday only, we will meet directly at the the Grutten Hut. So this means you need to reach the hut on Saturday or Sunday independently and from there we will go to one of the neighbouring peaks, rocks or via ferratas.
We know that some of you are still looking for a ride. Please contact us if you don’t have a ride yet or if you can offer space in your car. Please also let us know where you are coming from so that we can coordinate a ride.
Otherwise, please plan to travel by train to the train station in Kufstein. There are multiple direct regional and express train connections to Kufstein Hbf from Munich, from Salzburg or Innsbruck. From Kufstein Hbf we will be able to pick you up by car at 11:30 on Friday.
Sleeping quarters / shared bedrooms
Participants will share the sleeping quarters as common in many alpine huts. We also booked sleeping quarters (a shared bedroom) reserved only for FLINTA* women.
Everyone is required to bring their own thin hut sleeping bag / linens without a metal zipper or other metallic objects and disinfect it in the microwave upon check-in to prevent bed bugs.
